“Words cannot describe how honored I felt to be asked to participate in something that would unknowingly become an experience of a lifetime.” Joyce Lowe – Cancer Warrior

Cancervive is a non-profit organization established to raise awareness and support for Canadian Cancer Survivors and their families.
"Working together in support of those living with and surviving beyond Cancer."
Our signature event is an annual bicycle ride across North America to participate in one of Lance Armstrong's LIVESTRONG™ weekends. Completely volunteer based, one hundred percent (100%) of all donated funds are directed to our benefactor and partner - Wellspring Calgary (www.wellspringcalgary.ca). Additional funds raised go towards our “Warrior” program. A “Warrior” is an individual who is currently receiving or has received cancer treatments. Each rider can sponsor a “Warrior” who they may find through their own circle of friends or if they prefer, we can recommend potential warriors to them. Each Warrior will fly to Austin to greet the arriving Cancervive Peloton and participate in the “LIVESTRONG” event by walking or riding. This provides them with a greatly needed ‘weekend off” from the daily grind of battling cancer.
Our two key initiatives for 2010:

A 9 day supported relay ride from Calgary, Alberta to Austin, Texas. 5 pelotons of 6-8 riders will leave Calgary on Tuesday October 12, 2010 and arrive in Austin on October 21. Each team will ride for six hours and then have 24 hours to drive ahead to their next relay point. Accommodations and food are provided by Cancervive. Upon arriving in Austin you will greet your cancer Warriors and then participate in the “LIVESTRONG” weekend. www.livestrongchallenge.org You and your Warrior will have a variety of events to participate in ranging from walking a few miles to doing century ride where Lance used to train.
Sign up to ride in the LIVESTRONG Challenge. This ride option includes return airfare to Austin and four night’s accommodations while there. The rides range from 25 – 100 miles and take place in the Dripping Springs area where Lance used to train. Cycle through classic Texas country side (Longhorns included) with 3000 other cycling enthusiasts. The Cancervive team was recognized in 2008 at the Philadelphia “LIVESTRONG” event as the largest single group attending. Help us to take that title in Austin!
