110km today for Shae

Team 5 started today just south of Chadron, NE for their noon to 6pm ride! The motorhome volunteers Rick and Gregg had picked a great spot for the transition at Chadron National Park! We started out in the rain again - it lasted for a few hours, then it turned to drizzle and we finished in rain again! We did 110km today and during one of our rest stops, Shae - who was able to ride again today after having to take a rest day to get over her cold - told us that exactly one year ago today she was having surgery for breast cancer!

It is what it is - team 5 update

We are getting ready for our first full 6- hour shift, starting at midnight. Forecast is 100% precipitation and winds gusting to 60km an hour, and it will be a cross wind! Oh well, it is what it is! Team 5 is ready for anything! From team TTNT, Vern, Peter, Shawn, James and Erica

Here we go again

Trying the blog feature out on the new website before the peloton leaves on October 5th. Making sure it works and that we can all stay in touch with our friends and family while on the road.

So exciting!!!

Media update

Finally getting another chance to check my emails and update the blog. It is day 5 today (Sunday I think). Tough to keep track of all the days when you don't have a regular schedule of sleep and meals. We have done some great videos and photos of the riders. Trying to catch them all at different times of the day and night is quite the challenge but we are learning as we go.

We have been spreading the word amongst locals where we go, about what the ride is about and what the riders raise the funds for.

report from media van

For Peter Tryon

Happy Birthday Peter! Hope you had an awesome day and an incredible journey with the cancervive group, once again. They couldn't do this without your support! See you tomorrow!

Congratulations

Hi everyone
It looks like you must be in Patterson soon. I can't believe you made it that far in such a short time. Amazing how fast you move!! From what I have been reading, it sounds like everyone had an incredible time.
I can't wait to hear all the stories and share the weekend with you.
See you tomorrow.
Good luck on the team ride over Mt. Hamilton tomorrow!!!

Today

Today was John Stephure's Celebration of Life at All Saints Anglican Church in Cochrane. It was such a wonderful service and John Duckett made a beautiful tribute to John. It was good to see so many Wellspring Calgary volunteers, staff, present and past boardmembers in attendance. John has touched many people's lives and he will be missed deeply.

For Maurice

Hey Maurice - thought you would like to know that Tom Boonen will be starting in the Tour the France tomorrow. Your son Ben will be happy about this!
Thinking about all of you!! I am so proud of every person on the peloton!

Aerial Pictures

Send-off was very emotional for some of us. It was great to see so many friends and family members of the riders there. Sounds like you all had a wonderful day. My husband Chris, my son Benjamin and I met up with Soren Christiansen this morning at Springbank Airport and took off around 11ish towards Olds. We found a group of riders (7 of them) followed by the Ambulance. We got some great pictures of you, which I have sent to Kevin P so hopefully they will be on the web. It wasn't until I came home and read the blog that I realized which team that was: TEAM HC.
