Hometown: Calgary
Occupation: Mom; Volunteer at Wellspring
Warrior: Sarah Fitzmaurice & Owen Wilson
Motivation: Cancer affects so many people...I wish there was no such thing as "cancer", but there is, so that is why I ride. The ride is my little way of fighting cancer and also supporting my warriors and Wellspring. Unfortunately, we will all be affected by cancer either personally or through family or friends.
Sarah, my warrior, is an inspiring and motivating young woman. Sarah is the mother of 4 young children and one of the most determined people I have ever met. She has fought this battle with cancer with such strength, courage and grace.
Last summer we watched my dad, Owen, fight for his life against cancer, and succeed. He has shown great fortitude and determination throughout and won't give in. I am proud that he is my Dad, and I am so honored to ride FOR him!
Wellspring is a 'home' that gives so much to so many. Wellspring is there for people whenever they need it whether it is the very day of their diagnosis, during their treatment or when they are putting their life back together. We are lucky to have Wellspring to cocoon and support us when we need it.
I am honoured to ride for my dad, Sarah and also for Wellspring. Sarah and Dad couldn't have done it without the support of family and friends....so I dedicate this ride (every pedal stroke) to not only my warriors but also to the families and supporters of all cancer survivors (or 'cancer Thrivers' as my forever-Warrior Trudy says).
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, for helping me fight for all those touched by cancer!
