What is Cancervive?

Cancervive is an annual cycling event in support of Wellspring Calgary, a registered charity offering free programs and services for people living with cancer – including those diagnosed, caregivers, and kids.

When is Cancervive?

The 2022 ride will be held on September 10 2022.

Where is Cancervive?

The 2022 ride will be held in Banff National Park on the Bow Valley Parkway, starting from the Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre.

How long are the rides?

There are 4 distances to choose from, 25km, 50km, 75km, 100km. Distances can be updated at any time.

What is the fundraising minimum?

There is a $500 minimum that must be raised by September 9th. 

What happens if I don't reach my goal?

The remaining amount left to fundraise will be charged to the credit card on file.

Can I fundraise going door to door?

Yes, you can download fundraising forms here.

Where does the money raised through Cancervive go?

All funds raised go directly to Wellspring Calgary.

Will the Cancervive event be cancelled?

We do not anticipate cancelling the event, however, to ensure the safety of the riders we will send out communications if there is a possibility of cancelation.

How can I become a sponsor of Cancervive?

If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, please contact us directly and we will be more than happy to welcome you to the family.

How do I join the Cancervive Strava group?

Login to your Strava account and under “explore” search for Cancervive within the cycling “Sport type” Or follow this link to connect with the Cancervive club.

How do I leave the Cancervive Strava Group?

To leave a club, login to Strava on your mobile device, access your clubs by tapping Groups > Clubs. Select the club you want to leave, then select the "Joined" button to leave the club.

Why isn't my ride syncing with Strava?

To troubleshoot your ride activity, visit the Strava support page.

How do I thank my donors?

You can send emails through your personal fundraising page or via your personal email.

Are all donations tax-deductible?

Yes, all donations are tax-deductible

When are donation receipts issued?

When you make an online donation, you receive your tax receipt in an email immediately.   Cash or cheque donations take a little longer to process and a receipt will be sent to you later.

  • Where does the money raised through Cancervive go?

  • What happens if I don't reach my goal?

  • Can I use my e-bike on the Ride?
    E-bikes can be used for the ride as well as any other form of bike. (i.e. tandem, recumbent, tricycles, etc.)
  • How long are the rides?
    There are 5 distances to choose from. Along with 25km, 50km, and 75km rides, there are also 110km events – non-pace and paced (for more seasoned riders)
  • What will the Aid Stations provide?
    These stations will have water and snacks available for each rider who will need to check in at their turn around distance.
  • Where is the Cancervive Ride for Wellspring?
    The 2024 ride will be held in Banff National Park on the Bow Valley Parkway, starting from the Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre.
  • Can I change my ride distance before the event?
    Anyone can adjust their distance right up until 30 minutes before their new ride.
  • What is the fundraising minimum?
    There is a $600 minimum that must be raised before the event date.

  • How can my friends and family become involved with the ride?
    Friends and family can cheer on riders as the leave and arrive from their event and they can also ask about volunteering but sending a request to info@cancervive.ca.
  • What type of on course support in provided for riders?
    Each distance will be divided into groups of 8 – 10 riders who will be led by a Pacer. All groups will be followed by a Sweeper who makes sure everyone returns safely to the Fenlands Centre. Both Pacers and Sweeps will be carrying First Aid and minor repair kits and will have communication access to other course leaders and volunteers.

  • Where are the Aid Stations along the course?
    Along with the Start/Finish line Aid Station at the Fenlands Centre, there are 4 additional stations that are located at the halfway point for each of the ride distances. Along the course, they are at the following locations: 12.5 km (Mule Shoe Pull out), 25 km (Johnson Canyon where road closes), 37.5 (Just East of the split of the road on the southbound side.) and at 55 km (Parkway Arch (north end)
  • How do I thank my donors?
    You can send them an email through your personal fundraising page or via your personal email. Attach an image to your email or add it to your social media page to let everyone know!
  • Is there any fundraising resources available?
    Yes, once you sign up, we will send you a letter and outline steps to help you fundraise. You can also visit the resource section of the website and download any resources to post on your social media.

  • What is the minimum number of riders required to form a team?
    There is actually no minimum number required to form a team, but each team must achieve the consolidated fundraising commitment amount of $600 per person.
  • How do I create a team?

  • How do I disconnect with Strava?
    To leave a club, login to Strava on your mobile device, access your clubs by tapping Groups > Clubs. Select the club you want to leave, then select the "Joined" button to leave the club.
  • How do I use WHIP?
    You will need to first download the APP from the Apple App store or from Google Play (Download on App Store, Get it on Google Play). While loading the WHIP Live App, select “Always Track” when asked. Live Tracking starts and stops automatically ONLY at the beginning and at the end of the event, without you opening the app. Create your profile and then await for the link from us to join this event before ride day.
